OPTICOM, DVC introduce QoE tester for mobile and IPTV apps at NAB2008

OPTICOM and DVC Digitalvideo Computing at NAB2008 debuted the Perceptual Evaluation of Video Quality (PEVQ) analyzer, a quality of experience (QoE) analyzer for IPTV and mobile TV applications.

The HD-capable video recorder measures video sequences based on the five-point MOS (mean opinion score) scale, analyzing degraded video signals using a human visual model to represent an objective QoE measurement. Applicable to video streaming, mobile and IPTV applications testing, it supports multimedia (QCIF, CIF, VGA) and SD and HD video formats as well as synchronous SD and HD record/play over SD/HD-SDI and DVI interfaces. Audio and video quality metrics are presented in the form of a pair of standardized MOS KPIs, capable of tracking lip-sync artifacts, among other errors.
