Fast Forward Adds Store And View To Recon DVR

At NAB, Fast Forward Video will launch a new version of its Recon ultra-compact DVR board, which will let users view, store and manipulate Recon-generated video on standard computer systems by retrieving data directly from the hard drive.

The store and view functions allow video clips recorded by the Recon to be viewed on a PC and archived locally or on a network server for later access. The Recon targets remote, mobile, on-body broadcast and surveillance applications as well as compact integration into OEM equipment.

The Recon board measures 2.8-inches by 3.9-inches and has a form factor like notebook IDE/ATA disk drives and Motion JPEG compression capability. Fast Forward says it has broadcast-quality video capture and playback at 60 fields per second, resolution greater than 550 lines at 4:1 compression and compression ratios ranging from 4:1 to 20:1.
