As relocation of TV broadcast auxiliary service gains momentum at 2GHz, the Federal Communications Commission is moving forward on reconfiguring the 800MHz band to eliminate interference to pubic safety and land mobile communications in the band.
The two are related because of an FCC plan that awards part of the current TV BAS Channel 1 to Nextel Communications in exchange for vacating part of the 700MHz and 800MHz band to resolve the interference problems.
Last week, the commission designated June 27 as the date 800MHz reconfiguration will begin.
