A station serving eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey is the latest PBS member to choose Leitch's AgileVision as the cornerstone of its digital broadcast system.
WLVT (Lehigh Valley, Pa.) plans high-definition, multicasting and datacasting. The station has struck deals with local cable companies to ensure carriage of two locally programmed multicast channels and high-definition programming, said Dean Orton, WLVT interim president and CEO.
AgileVision can seamlessly integrate the station's programming with the network's compressed digital program without the usual signal degradation caused by repeatedly decompressing and recompressing the signals.
"The AgileVision system will offer maximum flexibility in moving between local and national programs and from standard- to high-definition to provide the very best service possible to the Lehigh Valley PBS community," Orton said.
