Waterman Broadcasting Taps BitCentral for Play-to-Air System
By TVTechnology published
Waterman Broadcasting has purchased Précis End-to-End Play-to-Air system from video content management provider BitCentral for its affiliate stations.
The stations, in Ft. Meyers, Fla. and Charlottesville, Va., will use the play-to-air system upgrade to file-based news workflow.
Précis ingests multiple analog NTSC sources, such as microwave feeds or SDI sources, into the station's digital workflow. The system also provides a way for reporters to gather data, edit and files stories from a remote location.
NBC NewsChannel has also been using the BitCentral MediaPipe news management and distribution since 2003 to disseminate national news to local affiliates.
Because Précis is a file-based system, the time to prepare a clip for air can be edited and ready for air within three to five minutes, as opposed to the 30 to 90 minutes a tape-based station can spending preparing tape, according to Irvine, Calif.-based BitCentral.
