VidTrans 2009 Conference and Expo to focus on video transport

The VidTrans 2009 Conference and Expo will be held Feb. 10-12, in Marina del Rey, CA. Attendees will be able to meet with and learn from executives at leading companies in the video transport market, including users, service providers and equipment manufacturers. Conference topics will include video contribution, distribution and delivery to home. Many different networking technologies also will be discussed, including JPEG2000, video encapsulation, clock synchronization, IP, ATM, MPLS and wireless applications for video.

Beyond the bits and bytes of networking, topics such as video processing and viewer quality of experience will be discussed. Management concerns such as network operations and channel change times for IPTV will be addressed. Video service providers and their TV network customers will also share their current thinking about the state of the industry and technology migration paths. The second day of the conference will close with a panel discussion highlighting the challenges and opportunities in the industry as professional video transport migrates away from ATM and toward IP networking technology. If history is any guide, this session will be a frank and lively exchange of ideas between industry leaders.

Standards for IP video encapsulation within the VSF, IETF and SMPTE will be discussed in detail. Presenters will give up-to-the-minute status reports on the progress that has been made as well as the ongoing tasks that need to be completed before these documents can become international standards.

Accompanying the conference will be a vendor exhibition of many of the cutting-edge technologies that are being discussed at the conference. Representatives from leading companies in the field including Harris, Evertz, Miranda, TANDBERG Television and many others will be on hand for detailed discussions and hands-on demonstrations. The exhibits are open during the first two days of the conference.
