Verizon Teams with Homebuilder on FiOS

Verizon Communications has entered into a marketing agreement with Lennar Corp., a nationwide homebuilder, to install and sell its fiber optic FiOS TV, telephony and Internet services in new dwellings prior to occupancy. The first co-op deals will affect new neighborhoods in a handful of suburbs/exurbs in Florida and Texas.

Lennar specializes in high-scale and retirement houses, townhouses and condos, and is based in Miami, Fla. Under the agreement, homebuyers of Lennar properties will be offered access to Verizon's FiOS online services. Generally, the telco’s fiber system offers data connections that can vary widely between 5-30 Mbps.

Verizon plans to market its fledging FiOS service to new Lennar homebuyers in mutually designated communities, where services would be available to those homebuyers who elect to have it installed.
