Verizon rolls out HD video on demand for FiOS TV customers

Verizon announced Dec. 5 that it has made video-on-demand HD available in many of its FiOS TV markets.

Markets where the high-definition VOD service is available include: Richmond and Virginia Beach, VA; Tampa, FL; Fort Wayne, IN; and Pittsburgh. Additionally, the company said it would soon roll out the HD VOD service in the Washington, D.C., metro area, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The remaining Verizon FiOS TV markets will get the service in 2008.

Last month, the company said it expects to have more than 150 HD channels by the end of 2008 as it continues to add to its high-def line-up, and programmers launch new channels. It also said that it would increase its HD VOD titles to more than 1000 in 2008.

The company’s initial HD VOD offering contains about 75 HD titles. To access an HD VOD show, customers press the "VOD" or "On Demand" button on their remote control, navigate through a menu on FiOS TV's interactive media guide, or tune to channel 900.
