Verizon, MediaFLO Offer Bowl Games on the Small Screen

Verizon Wireless is offering cell phone coverage of 24 NCAA bowl games through the MediaFLO mobile TV service.

Subscribers to Verizon’s VCast—which uses MediaFLO to power its VCast mobile TV service—will be able to access games originated by ESPN, CBS Mobile and Fox Mobile.

“Now that the 2007 season is coming to a head, sports fans won’t want to miss a second of the most anticipated match-ups of the year,” said Michael Boyd, vice president of licensing and research at MediaFLO USA. “The channels available on our FLO TV service give fans the flexibility to catch some of their favorite college teams without missing a single play of the game—even if they are away from the TV.”

The small screen bowl games kicked off with the ESPN Mobile’s coverage of the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 20. VCast mobile TV service is available in more than 50 cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia.
