Sony Bows New HD Studio Camera line
PARK RIDGE,N.J.: Sony Electronics is introducing a new line of high-definition studio cameras and multiformat production switchers. The new HSC-300 and HXC-100 cameras and MVS-6000 switcher are based on Sony’s HDC Series studio cameras and MVS Series switchers. They will be shown at this year’s NAB Show.

Both cameras use Sony’s digital triax transmission technology. The HSC-300 can be used with triax cable runs of up to 1,300 meters. The HXC-100 model can be used for runs of up to 850 meters.

The new MVS-6000 multiformat switcher is expandable up to 49 inputs. It comes in configurations up to 2.5 ME. A new automation software option, model ELC-MVS01, is designed for integration into SD and HD news control room systems.

The HSC-300 and HXC-100 studio cameras are scheduled to ship in May, with basic systems starting at suggested list prices of $69,900 and $45,900, respectively. The MVS-6000 is expected to be available in April with suggested list pricing for various system configurations to be announced.

LG Taps EB for mobile device reception test tech
OULU,FINLAND: A Finnish developer of embedded technology for the wireless and automotive industries said this week it is creating a mobile RF reception testing for LG Electronics. The company--EB--is a multiple-antenna over-the-air performance testing system for LG’s mobile devices.

“LG will now be able to test full mobile device functionality and performance in realistic radio channel environments without any compromises to the performance verification,” EB’s announcement stated. “EB’s OTA testing application enables repeatable testing in various radio channel conditions which shortens the mobile phone development cycle and enables early market introduction of new mobile devices.”

Omneon, Tekserve and IMT Partner to Target Post
SUNNYVALE,CALIF.: Omneon is teaming up with New York-based Tekserve and Integrated Media Technologies in Hollywood to develop a post-oriented workflow. Through reseller arrangements, Omneon will offer purpose-built MediaGrid storage systems for editing environments.
