Utah Scientific promotes affordable solution for presenting EAS information

An increasing number of broadcasters are using the MC-40A high-definition channel branding system from Utah Scientific as a stand-alone device to provide dedicated emergency alert system (EAS) presentation downstream of an existing master control switcher. Based on Utah Scientific’s MC-400 system, the MC-40 features two keyers, an internal logo generator, and an audio clip store.

Broadcasters making the transition to digital transmission need a simple, cost-effective, and compact device to perform EAS insertion. The MC-40 can be integrated into a multichannel master control system as well as serve as a fully featured master control switcher.

The MC-40 accepts the EAS text and audio messages from an EAS decoder and performs keying plus audio message presentation on its own, without the need for additional equipment, thus affording streamlined, cost-effective operation.

The unit provides clean switching, logo insertion, and EAS insertion for a lower cost than most standalone EAS units. Also, with the addition of a companion router and a master control panel, the system can morph into a full-fledged master control switcher.
