United Kingdom: Longtime Soap Going HD in 2008

One of the more popular daytime soap operas in the United Kingdom, “Neighbors,” will soon begin production in HD. The program, which is 22 years old and produced in Australia, has been airing twice a day on BBC1, but soon it will transfer to Britain’s Channel Five.

New graphics and a new logo geared to an HD format will be introduced, along with new theme music, will first be heard in the United Kingdom next Tuesday, Oct. 16. But the soap itself will not actually be produced and aired in HD in the United Kingdom until next year, and Ireland soon after, according to MediaGuardian in London.
