Korea Telecom to deploy DASAN IPTV set-top box
Korea Telecom has selected DASAN Networks for deployment of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment as part of its Megapass TV service. Korea Telecom customers who sign up for the Megapass TV service will be offered a DASAN Network IPTV set-top box that is powered by Sigma Designs' SMP8634 media processor.

Belgacom inks deal to distribute Private Media Group content
Private Media Group said April 12 that it entered into a multiyear agreement with the Belgian telecom provider Belgacom Group to supply content for distribution via the Belgacom TV Video-On-Demand (VOD) service.

The agreement gives Belgacom access to hundreds of titles from Private's movie library and includes both new releases and classic titles.

Bay Microsystems and Enigma Semiconductor announce interoperability
Bay Microsystems and Enigma Semiconductor have announced interoperability between Bay's Chesapeake 40G network processor and Enigma's HybriCore chipset.

The combination of Bay's 40G network processor and the single chip, 40G full duplex EN6240 fabric manager device from Enigma Semiconductor will allow OEMs to develop a new generation of broadband equipment, metro Ethernet routers and multiservice provisioning platform. The companies have collaborated to develop optimized system-level solutions that support the quality of service (QoS) attributes needed to transport rich media content for triple-play applications including Voice-over-IP, IPTV, online gaming and VPN-based services.

CTV Telecom selects Kasenna for IPTV offering
Kasenna will provide Panamanian telecommunications provider CTV Telecom, through its integration partner Sonitel, with infrastructure to build out its IPTV and video-on-demand offering to consumers.

CTV Telecom has purchased Kasenna's PortalTV product suite, which includes the LivingRoom middleware platform and MediaBase VOD server software. The first company in Latin America to develop a network specifically to deliver triple play and more, CTV Telecom intends to roll out IPTV services starting in Panama City, Panama, expanding to a broader market as its business builds.

Latvian telecom deploys MPEG-4 IPTV service
Latvian telecommunications services provider Lattelecom has deployed Orca Interactive's RiGHTv middleware as part of the first MPEG-4 IPTV deployment in the Baltic.

Using Orca's RiGHTv middleware as part of an Optibase end-to-end solution, Lattelecom's IPTV service includes broadcast television, video on demand, multilingual content and self-service. Orca's Service Delivery Platform architecture enabled Optibase to develop a segmented advertising service that allows Lattelecom to send ads triggered by a user's actions.
