Survey finds satisfaction among nearly all HDTV owners
A total of 97 percent of consumers are satisfied with their HDTV sets and 59 percent say they watch more TV as a result, according to new research from the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG).
The findings, released during the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) trade show in Denver, come from research conducted by DEG and SmithGeiger.
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feelings about HDTV, confusion still exists. According to the survey, 28 percent of respondents are unsure how their sets are connected. The finding falls in line with other research indicating confusion on the part of consumers about HDTV. The DEG survey found that 11 percent of respondents believe they are using HDMI.
The benchmark study was conducted by interviewing nearly 1100 HDTV owners and measuring their attitudes, usage and behavior toward HD.
In response to the confusion, DEG, a Los Angeles-based, industry-funded nonprofit corporation that advocates and promotes the benefits of the DVD format, has created and published an HDTV guide for consumers on its Web site.
