The FCC announced last week that the amendments to FCC Rules Section 76.66(d)(2) and (d)(5) adopted in FCC Order 05-81 became effective Aug. 15, 2005.
According to the Public Notice (DA-05-2295) announcing the effective date, "Section 76.66(d)(2) revises the rule concerning satellite carrier notification to television broadcast stations in new local-into-local markets. Section 76.66(d)(5) creates a new rule for satellite carriers that carry or intend to carry significantly viewed out-of-market signals and will provide television stations with different carriage election options in counties and markets in which the satellite carrier is offering significantly viewed signals."
The Public Notice said the Office of Management and Budget approved the changes on June 14, 2005, making the effective date Aug. 15. These amendments were required by the Satellite Home Viewer Extension and Reauthorization Act of 2004.
