SeaChange International has introduced the "Ad Placement System" a new platform designed integrate cable operators video on demand (VOD) systems with their existing sales operation to enable improved control over advertising.
The ad management component of system provides centralized control over ad placement, setting up rules and targeting instructions for disparate spots, which are stored in digital video libraries. Task controllers then automatically transcode the appropriate spots to the digital specifications of the VOD system and execute insertion against ad order instructions. The spots are then spliced with the programming as it streams.
The system enables different commercials to be swapped out to reach different lifestyle demographics and viewer interests, based on cable operator's ability to target with "zipcode plus four" precision.
The system is currently in beta and will be demonstrated at NAB2004 and the upcoming NCTA show in New Orleans in May.
