Rosie, 'The View' Go HD on Sept. 5
"The View," ABC's daytime talk show for women, welcomes two new additions on Sept 5 -- co-host Rosie O'Donnell and 720p HD (not necessarily in that order). The program, created nearly a decade ago by Barbara Walters and others, airs live weekdays from 11 a.m. to noon ET.
While ABC/Disney introduced 720p to "Good Morning America" viewers nearly a year ago as the first network morning program to make the technical jump, "The View" will become the first show in ABC's regular daytime lineup to broadcast in HD.
Former "View" co-host Meredith Vieira (there are typically four co-hosts at one time) will miss out on the HD leap -- but by barely a week. Her new morning gig, NBC's "Today" show, plans to go 1080i on her first day on the job on Wednesday, Sept. 13, in a re-designed two-floor HD studio overlooking Rockefeller Center (HD Notebook, Aug. 24, 2006).
