Zandar multiviewers driving HD for Alfacam OB fleet
In what is one of the largest broadcast installations of MultiViewers in Europe, Zandar Technologies is providing more than 200 of its Predator HD8 MultiViewer units to Alfacam, the Belgium-based mobile production facilities company. The MultiViewers are now being integrated in 11 TV trucks to support live HD sports production and mixing monitoring. Alfacam showed its newest HD truck, OB30 HD, at the recent IBC2007 exhibition in Amsterdam.

Installed at the heart of the OB30 HD OB vehicle from Alfacam are 28 integrated Predator HD8 MultiViewers, configured to display eight video inputs across two monitors.

In the main production monitoring wall, the Predator HD8 MultiViewers are configured using the easy-to-use Z-Configurator software that routes any eight inputs to true native HD/SDI monitors with full dynamic UMD and Tally display. Predator HD8 MultiViewers will drive up to 1080p in single- and dual-output mode. The production console can be used from left to right and has additional sub mixing areas.

In the mixing area of OB30 HD, the Predator HD8 MultiViewers are fed signals from a routing switcher and provide up to 32 pictures in any configuration for display on 20in LCD monitors.

Alfacam owns 22 multi-camera television facilities trucks (OB vehicles) of which at present already 15 are capable of HD production for music, sports, political and lifestyle events around the world. The company completes about 1200 projects per year, with 60 percent in HD.

Stadiums in Norway support sports production with termination panels
OB Team, the outside broadcast arm of Norwegian broadcaster TV2, is finding it much easier to capture Norway’s football (soccer) matches thanks to the introduction of a termination panel system that has been installed at four of the country’s main football stadiums.

Ing. Sivertsen, in collaboration with UK-based systems integrator Broadcast Networks, has designed, manufactured and installed termination panels at the Sør Arena, Kristiansand; Brann Stadium, Bergen; Marienlyst stadium, Drammen; and Klepp Stadium, Stavanger. These panels allow OB Team’s production trucks to park in their allotted slot and connect to an integrated cabling system that connects the OB vehicle to every part of the stadium. Having all the routing for audio and video systems, including links to the commentary box, already in place saves the outside broadcast crew an enormous amount of set-up time and eliminates the need to drape cables around the stadium.
