Panasonic's Varicam used on Lennon documentary
By TVTechnology published
Panasonic’s AJ-HDC27 VariCam HD Cinema camera was used to shoot contemporary interviews for “The U.S. vs. John Lennon” film now playing in theaters.
The story is told using a combination of 1970s stock footage and contemporary interviews, including Walter Cronkite, George McGovern, Gore Vidal, G. Gordon Liddy and Yoko Ono.
James Mathers, director of photography, shot the interviews on locations throughout the world against blue and green screen backgrounds in order to control them and have a consistent look through mattes.
Using a Panasonic AJ-HDC27 Varicam outfitted with a Canon HJ 11x4.7 HD lens to shoot the interview segments, Mathers then output the video to film.
