NRK prepares for new 24-hour news channel
NRK, the national broadcaster in Norway, is deploying a new digital newsroom to support its existing program lineup and the upcoming launch of a 24-hour news channel.
To handle its needs for flexible routing of HD and SD video, support of a large number of content paths and the reliability necessary for a news operation, NRK chose to work with Network Electronics.
The company is providing a VikinX Modular 256 x 256 router to support NRK’s current and anticipated future signal distribution requirements. A Network Electronics technical team worked closely with NRK to integrate its Omnibus control system with the router.
The Network Electronics VikinX Modular routers accommodate a wide range of signal formats, including HD-SDI, SD-SDI, analog audio, AES/EBU audio and telecom, and offer the ability to mix most of these signals in the same frame.
