More Hollywood post houses using Avid DS Nitris this season

Avid's DS Nitris systems are putting the finishing touch in HD for 28 television shows this season.

Twenty-eight television shows for the 2004-2005 television season are being finished in high definition with Avid DS Nitris systems.

This represents a nearly 40 percent increase over the number of programs created with the Avid DS family last season.

Los Angeles-based post-production facilities Technicolor Creative Services, Modern VideoFilm, Matchframe Video, and two Ascent Media companies, Encore and Level 3, are using multiple Avid DS Nitris systems to finish several shows in HD, including CBS' "Without a Trace" and "Dr. Vegas," FOX's "24," and NBC's "Las Vegas." “As one of the first companies to use the Avid DS family of systems for long-form broadcast projects, we found that the online process integrated seamlessly into our editorial pipeline,” said Technicolor Creative Services Vice President Marco Bario. “The greatest advantage for our customers is that the DS Nitris protocol allows them (and our editors) to take full advantage of the metadata as part of the Avid offline capabilities, such as repos, speed changes, titles and DVE moves. Finishing shows is now much easier with all guess work eliminated.”
