Modulus Video offers compact MPEG-4 AVC encoding

The ME1001 delivers a CF CBR that maximizes bandwidth efficiency.

Modulus Video has introduced a new SD video encoding platform in a compact form factor. The company announced the immediate availability of its ME1001, which offers the entire AVC toolkit in a 1RU box.The ME1001 delivers constrained fidelity constant bit rate (CF CBR) that maximizes bandwidth efficiency and introduces new features to enhance IPTV services including the first embedded low-resolution proxy solution for enabling PIP for Microsoft TV and EPG applications.

The ME1001 SD encoder offers support for main profile video encoding at level 3, delivering high-quality video at around half the bandwidth of current MPEG-2 algorithms. It also provides selectable support for CABAC entropy coding, macro block adaptive field frame coding, weighted prediction and de-blocking filter. Optional Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering (MCTF) significantly increases video quality by reducing random noise without incurring motion blur.

Modulus Video's ME1001 complements the full featured ME1000 SD AVC encoder and ME6000 high-definition AVC encoder and compression system management solution. The ME1001 is also available as part of IPTV solutions offered by OEM partner, Motorola.
