LG Electronics selects MathStar for H.264 transcoder silicon
By TVTechnology published
Fabless semiconductor company MathStar is working with LG Electronics on a solution that supports the migration to MPEG-4 HD video technology in the lodging industry.
LG selected MathStar's Arrix field programmable object array (FPOA) technology for HD transcoders that deliver satellite HD programming to hotel rooms. The MathStar chipset in LG's transcoder reformats H.264 MPEG-4 satellite signals so they can be displayed with existing MPEG-2 receivers.
The programmable logic technology allows LG's satellite transcoders to support a large installed base of legacy TV receivers.
