Leading Spanish broadcaster to install 800-workstation DaletPlus system

One of Spain’s premiere broadcasters in Andalucia has chosen DaletPlus to supply an 800-seat digital newsroom system to be used in 11 regions throughout the country.

Canal Sur (RTVA) will use the Dalet Digital Media Systems for two terrestrial TV stations, one satellite TV channel, three radio stations and to publish material on the Internet.

DaletPlus will allow RTVA to integrate its news production and broadcast tools for radio, television and the Web. The system will support the needs of several hundred journalist and news production personnel.

Prior to the Dalet implementation, the RTVA news team used proprietary technology for the news production process. Multiple, non-integrated systems scattered in various departments were used to prepare video, audio and character generation.

With the DaletPlus interface and IT connection, RTVA journalists can easily share access to centrally stored news stories and content. They can review incoming wire stories, prepare copy and edit content in real time. With tools and source material available from their desktops, the news teams easily share ideas and prepare stories for radio, television and the Web.

The RTVA installation is one of Dalet's larger endeavors with more than 800 workstations connected to an ATM wide area network. The DaletPlus solution controls 14 servers, 12 CGs, nine teleprompters and 40 printers spread across 11 sites. The administrative and workflow management is controlled from Seville facilitating 30 television shows and 70 news radio spots per day.

RTVA news and information is available at www.canalsur.es. For more information on the installation, please visit www.dalet.com.
