KWKT-TV kicks off local evening newscast
By TVTechnology published
KWKT-TV, the Communications Corp. of America-owned station in central Texas, kicked off its first evening newscast Jan. 28, entering the local news fray with a newly built all-digital newsroom.
The station, which serves Waco, Bryan and College Station, TX, is a Fox affiliate. According to a report on WacoTrib.com, the new digital news production facilities initially are being used to broadcast news in SD; however, the newscast will be HD-capable, according to station general manager Ron Crowder, once a new digital switcher on order is delivered.
The new newscast commenced at about 9:30 p.m. following President George W. Bush’s final State of the Union address.
