KOKI FOX23 relies on Curious World Maps software

FOX affiliate KOKI-TV has purchased a new program from Curious Software to help illustrate breaking local and national news stories with captivating maps.

Curious Software's World Map allows stations like KOKI FOX23 to create attractive animated maps with minimal effort.

They’re using Curious World Maps for a variety of original programming, including an hour-long newscast every night and half-hour early evening newscasts on weekdays. KOKI FOX23, owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications, airs a mixture of syndicated programs and FOX network programs to viewers in Tulsa and the north eastern part of Oklahoma.

Before it acquired Curious World Maps, the broadcaster relied on stills created from Adobe Illustrator templates. According to Joel Rorabaugh, art director and broadcast animator for both KOKI and UPN station KTFO, this method was time-consuming and haphazard because it was difficult to create high-quality maps that were consistent in visual style at every scale, from street level to state and national levels.

The new software allows the station staff to create attractive animated maps with minimal effort.
