Harris Wins VOA Modernization Contract

Harris Corp. was awarded an equipment delivery contract in connection with the modernization of the International Broadcasting Bureau's Voice of America (VOA) facility in Washington, D.C.

Communications Engineering Inc. (CEI), a systems design and integration firm headquartered in Newington, Va., is designing a new broadcast system for the facility and issued the contract to Harris to provide routing, master control systems and QC equipment, all to be controlled by a Harris automation system.

"CEI chose the Harris automation solution because the VOA demanded high reliability and a proven system widely used in the industry in order to broadcast information," said Lawrence Brody, president and CEO of CEI.

The new system will include 12 channels of master control playback, as well as extensive ingest and recording capability.
