FOA publishes new textbook on fiber optics

The Fiber Optic Association has published a new textbook on fiber optics, “The FOA Reference Guide to Fiber Optics.” This textbook is designed to be used for training fiber-optic technicians studying for FOA certification and as a reference guide for anyone interested in fiber optics. This textbook was developed from new material on the FOA Web site and is complemented by hundreds of Web pages on additional topics. The book is available from Amazon.com and will soon be available on the Amazon Kindle electronic book reader.

The FOA’s goal is to provide the world with sources of technically correct, unbiased information on fiber optics using both print and electronic media. The FOA textbook “The Fiber Optic Technicians Manual,” originally published in 1997 and now in its third edition, was one of the first textbooks written especially for training fiber-optic installers. The FOA's has helped certify more than 27,000 fiber-optic technicians in the last 12 years.

The book features information on fiber-optic data links, FTTH and testing, and new chapters on fiber-optic network design and installation.
