FCC to test unlicensed devices in white space at FedEx Field

The Buffalo Bills-Washington Redskins football game on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at FedEx Field in Landover, MD, will be the site of the latest FCC field tests of white space devices for unlicensed mobile technology.

The NFL offered the Redskins’ stadium as well as the Ravens’ stadium in nearby Baltimore for the field testing. Lab testing by the commission is already completed.

A theatrical field test will be held in New York City in an unspecified Broadway theater this week as well.

Theater and sports producers have been concerned that the unlicensed devices will interfere with wireless microphone performance. The FCC testing will address that issue and whether or not the use of such devices interferes with DTV signals.
