Crawford Broadcasting installs AKG Perception 200 mics

Crawford Broadcasting recently purchased 16 AKG Perception 200 microphones for use in several of its Birmingham, AL, studios. Crawford owns and operates WDJC, WYDE, WXJC, WPHC and WLGD radio stations. With a large cluster studio facility servicing several stations, the firm needed a reliable, high-quality microphone option at a reasonable price. After testing various microphones from several manufacturers, market chief engineer Stephen Poole chose the AKG Perception 200 for its superior price-to-performance ratio.

The Crawford Broadcasting facility has installed 12 of the mics, and keeps the remaining four as spares in case of emergency.

The Perception 200 microphone offers a 1in diaphragm, rugged metal housing and cardioid polar pattern. With switchable bass roll-off and –10dB pre-attenuation pad, it handles sources with up to 145dB SPL levels, while its large diaphragm helps to bring out the best in each user’s voice clearly and intelligibly.
