Chyron, Magna Announce Large ABC Order

Chyron has announced its largest Asia/Pacific order from Australian network ABC, which will see the broadcaster upgrade its graphics workflow with Chyron systems in seven cities across the country. The installation will be carried out by Chyron's Asia Pacific partner, Magna Systems and Engineering.

ABC, Australia's national public broadcaster, has ordered nine HyperX2 and 17 LEX2 graphics systems, all featuring Chyron's Lyric PRO advanced creation and playout software. The order also includes Chyron's complete news graphics management solution, CAMIO and four licenses for iSQ, the company's remote monitoring and playout application. The systems, which will be used for the first time in June 2008 in Sydney and Melbourne, will also be installed in ABC's facilities in Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin and Hobart.

The HD/SD-switchable HyperX2s and LEX2s, which will initially be used in SD, will take maximum advantage of the latest innovations by integrating the most current video processing hardware. Sophisticated graphics produced by ABC for its news broadcasts will include Over The Shoulder (OTS), lower thirds and full frame backgrounds with real-time 2D/3D animation. CAMIO with iSQ will enable ABC to streamline its graphics workflow allowing operators to control independent output channels across multiple devices of MOS-generated playlists.

"We are delighted to announce this sale to ABC, at NAB today," commented Michael Wellesley-Wesley, Chyron CEO. He added, "This is a significant order, which highlights Chyron's success in the region. Workflow is key to the Chyron philosophy and this installation at ABC is an excellent example of how to take full advantage of the sophisticated technology and simple user interface that Chyron systems deliver."
