CBS sends shows to mobile devices using Bluetooth
By TVTechnology published
In a new type of U.S. marketing campaign, the CBS TV network plans to beam free promotional clips of new fall shows via Bluetooth wireless technology to mobile phone and PDA users.
Billboard posters would be used to promote a show and an embedded Bluetooth transmitter would allow cell phone or PDA users to view a clip on their mobile devices.
The campaign will start in September with five CBS prime-time shows. The technology, already being used in Europe, requires the receiver to be within 36ft of the billboard. Users are not charged for the transfer.
