Broadcast Engineering Excellence Awards deadline extended

The eighth annual Broadcast Engineering Excellence Awards contest deadline has been extended to Nov. 3. The Excellence Awards recognize innovation, high-quality design and construction in telco, cable, broadcast and production facilities.

What’s involved? You write a 400-500 word article describing the facility and equipment that was chosen. Suggested topics include:

  • Define the facility: What were the goals of the new facility?
  • Design criteria: What was the design goal of the facility? Did you update the existing facility or find/build at a new location?
  • Difficulties and innovations: What difficulties did you face? What innovations were implemented in the new design? Were there special architectural/acoustical considerations?
  • Equipment decisions: List the key vendors/manufacturers selected. Describe the workflow benefits obtained through the reconstruction.

The Excellence Awards entries are published in the Broadcast Engineering December Digital Reference Guide. Readers vote on their favorite entries online, and the winners are announced at NAB2009 and featured in the special March NAB preview issue. The winners are honored with a plaque at a special ceremony to take place at the NAB convention.
