FCC Denies Indecency Complaints About DNC Broadcast

The FCC doesn't regulate indecency on cable and says it's not going to start now.

The commission denied several complaints stemming from an obscenity that aired at the Democratic National Convention this past summer. A CNN mic picked up a staffer's utterance of the f-word because of a snafu with the balloon drop that was supposed to follow Senator John Kerry's speech.

In its decision, the agency reiterated that cable services "are not broadcast services, but subscription-based services, which do not call into play the issue of indecency."
