Barco, Orad Partner on Virtual Studio Technology

Barco and Orad Hi Tec Systems recently signed an agreement to collaborate on an integrated solution that offers new flexibility in backdrop designs for broadcast studios and sets.

The two companies will cooperate on sales, including lead sharing, combined bids and joint project proposals. The companies have already integrated Orad's Maestro VRX system with Barco displays and processors. The joint systems will be demonstrated at IBC2006.

"By bringing together these best-of-breed technologies, we are enabling our joint customers to leverage the best that 3D real time graphics technologies have to offer with a flexible hardset backdrop solution to create un-paralleled flexibility for graphical mixing and presentation material while maintaining ease of interactivity and use for the presenter," said Ofir Benovici, Orad director of marketing and product management. "The integration of our Maestro VRX system with Barco's versatile display technology brings our shared clients the industry's most flexible solution for set and studio designs."

The joint system provides very high-resolution backdrop outputs that provide graphic displays that are free of pixelization even when the view is greatly zoomed in. This environment supports insertion of real-time 3D objects into a hard set.

"The integration of our processors and large screen display technology with the Orad's solutions is a natural fit," said Alain Solomon, Barco vice president of sales and marketing.
