Audio Exchange intros Thermionic Culture Pullet for preamps

The new Pullet provides a variable Q boost at 11 frequencies of 21dB and simultaneously a reduction at 11 frequencies of 21dB.

Audio Exchange's Thermionic Culture Pullet, a passive equalizer originally designed to complement the Earlybird preamp, can now be used on any preamp in the market.

The Pullet provides a variable Q boost at 11 frequencies of 21dB and simultaneously a reduction at 11 frequencies of 21dB. In addition, high top can be boosted or cut with a shelving filter. AXI’s Earlybird provides the gain make-up required after a line-level signal has been passed through the Pullet’s passive EQ network.

According to AXI, it’s possible to boost a narrow band of mid-range by 21dB with the Pullet, resulting in a “musical sound”, while an active EQ may start to sound harsh and begin to ring. The preamp needs to give between 38- to 40dB of gain make-up and ideally will have an input impedance of 1200 ohms.
