Alcatel-Lucent publishes IPTV test, measurement white paper
Alcatel-Lucent published a white paper in May on best practices for IPTV test and measurement.
According to the paper, its goal is to lay out recommendations for “three important operations engineering decisions for service assurance.” They include the definition of generic points of demarcation where measurements should be taken; recommended measurement methods; and recommendations for a minimum set of measurements to observe and troubleshoot IPTV and Microsoft TV quality concerns.
The white paper explains what data is necessary from a network and how to get it, making measurements with probes as well as calibration activities and results. It also discusses results acquired using various monitoring technologies, including those from Agilent Technology, IneoQuest, JDSU and Spirent Communications.
