Abit upgrades hardware architecture at NRK

Norwegian national broadcaster NRK has ordered an upgrade to its Abit automation system. The upgrade will migrate the application to a new Intel platform running Linux while at the same time taking advantage of some of Abit’s latest hardware innovations at its facility in Oslo.

Following the hardware upgrade, NRK is now able to use a higher-speed VME bus, modular power supplies, removable switch cards and distributed time code while maintaining the overall centralized approach to broadcast automation. In addition, the workstation software will be upgraded to a new version also running on Linux to provide operator-configurable screens as well as retaining the existing broad range of operational features.
