Three more Clear Channel stations streamline news production workflow

WXXA, WSYR and WHAM, the Clear Channel Television-owned stations in upstate New York, have purchased and will soon install the BitCentral Précis 3.0 News Production System.

WXXA, in Albany, NY, is going live with Précis in August. WSYR in Syracuse, NY, and WHAM in Rochester, NY, plan to complete installation of Précis 3.0 by the early fall. The news production system will give the broadcasters the ability to upgrade immediately to a file-based news workflow from ingest to air. Précis 3.0 is designed to streamline the news production workflow to ensure quick delivery of high-quality news in SD or HD formats.

WXXA, WSYR and WHAM will initially go live with an SD version of Précis, but the technology includes an upgrade path to HD, which will support the stations’ eventual shift to HD.

WXXA has embarked on a significant expansion of its news broadcasts, which includes the addition of a three-hour news block on weekday mornings, station manager Jeffery Whitson said. The Précis system provides an open architecture that allows seamless integration of national, regional and local stories in addition to content from other Précis-equipped Clear Channel stations, he said. Earlier this year, Précis was installed at KMTR, another Clear Channel station in Eugene, OR.
