Quinnipiac University taps Fujinon for new HD broadcast center

Fujinon’s HA22x7.2ESM and HA17x7.8 HD ENG-style lenses are now a part of a newly upgraded Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center facility, thanks to Quinnipiac University.

More than 12 years ago, Quinnipiac University, located in Hamden, CT, broke ground on the Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center. When the time came to upgrade the facility, Quinnipiac officials knew that in order to keep their broadcast students competitive in today’s fast-changing television environment, they had to go HD. As part of this move, they acquired Fujinon’s HA22x7.2ESM and HA17x7.8 HD ENG-style lenses.

Other equipment included: three Sony HDC-910 studio cameras; an HDW-730S HDCAM camcorder for field acquisition; an MVS-8000A switcher; a 2M/E video production switcher with four channels of digital video effects; an HDSX-3600 HD routing switcher; and a DMX-R100 digital audio mixing board.

The McMahon Center features 25 stations of Macintosh G-5 editing suites equipped with Final Cut Pro HD; five Avid editing suites; two audio suites; and a news technology center featuring an AP ENPS system.

HB Communications, www.hbcommunications.com, a systems integrator headquartered in North Haven, CT, performed the installation.
