Australian NBN Television converts news production to digital workflow

NBN Television network in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, has completed a multi-phase project transitioning its studio facilities to a streamlined, virtually tapeless digital news production workflow.

The network went live with Grass Valley brand digital news production (DNP) equipment in February.

The DNP system, now in full operation at NBN TV, includes numerous NewsEdit XT nonlinear edit systems; FeedClip interactive feed capture system; NewsQ Pro automated news playback system; and the M-Series iVDR.

Thomson, serving as engineering consultants and systems integrator for the project, incorporated software interface products from technology partner Proximity. Together, all system components have been tightly integrated with the NBN Network's existing Associated Press ENPS newsroom computer system.

The project took nearly two years to complete.
