WCPO-TV Taps Omneon for Digital Facility

WCPO-TV recently selected Omneon media server systems for its digital facility in Cincinnati.

Operators at the ABC affiliate--owned by E.W. Scripps--worked with systems integrator A.F. Associates to create the digital workflow, using the Omneon servers for both production and playout.

Features of the server system include support for third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving and collaborative production.

In the new master control environment, WCPO-TV integrated the Omneon system server with Crispin automation. Another Omneon server is being integrated with Panasonic newsbyte DVC Pro editing systems and being used in news production with Avid iNews.

WCPO-TV chief engineer Tom Talley said that integrating the Omneon server was simple, adding, "that machine has worked like a Swiss clock ever since."
