Scopus Brings Headend and Distribution Systems

At IBC2008, Scopus will demonstrate its comprehensive IP- and ASI-based headend solutions and video delivery systems, bandwidth-optimization products and more for hybrid transmission and diverse HD/SD services.
The company will debut its Eldorado NMS, a new video network management system. The Eldorado enhances the comprehensive capabilities of Scopus’ direct-to-home and content distribution solutions by managing services and devices across networks, scaling from small headends to large and distributed networks. It features IP and ASI routing solutions, a variety of redundancy schemes, drag-and-drop operations for topology and views, easy integration of third-party devices, and more.
Scopus will also launch the next generation in its flagship receiving/processing platform for multiformat dense decoding and processing. The new integrated receiver processor (IRP) is based on the technology underpinning Scopus’ world leading integrated receiver decoder (IRD) products. The IRP platform targets a variety of headend, edge receiving, and processing applications for cable, satellite, terrestrial, and IPTV operators, addressing handling of multiformat SD/HD content, H.264/MPEG-2 decoding, transport stream descrambling, IP edge streaming, ASI aggregation, remultiplexing, transmodulation, HD-to-SD downconversion and more.
It incorporates multiformat (HD/SD, H.264/MPEG-2) and dense (up to four channels) decoding, a powerful multiplexing core that enables grooming and PSI/SI and PSIP aggregation of multiple HD and SD programs, and a wide variety of inputs (8VSB, ASI, and IP) and outputs (baseband video, audio, ASI, and IP).
A new enhancement to Scopus’ digital video broadcast headends includes an H.264 HD/SD statistical multiplexing system. Addressing direct-to-home services and content distribution, this system enables cable, satellite, IPTV, and terrestrial facilities to achieve considerable bandwidth savings when based on H.264 DVB-S2 technologies versus MPEG-2 DVB-S-based systems.
Scopus will also display a range of platforms and solutions for live event coverage, studio-to-studio transmission, and primary contribution and distribution of high-quality video.
