Focus, Panasonic Partner for HD DTE Disk Recorder

At IBC, Focus Enhancements and Panasonic announced they are teaming up to expand the FireStore Direct To Edit (DTE) disk recorder line to support the Panasonic DVCPRO HD format.

"At IBC, HD was a major focus for manufacturers and customers, as the industry continues its rapid shift to shooting and distributing new content in high definition digital format," said Frithjof Becker, vice president of sales and marketing EMEA of Focus Enhancements.

The FireStore FS-100 portable DTE recorder--available by March 2006--will be optimized for the new Panasonic DVCPRO HD P2 handheld camcorder, and enable videographers to record DVCPRO, DVCPRO50 or DVCPRO HD video streams via FireWire. While in the field, users can connect directly to a computer and edit content directly from a FireStore, eliminating the need to digitize footage.

At the European confab, Focus showed its FireStore FS-4 HD DTE disk recorder, the ProxSys Media Server for DAM and its Mantis MG multichannel HD media player for digital signage applications.
