South Korea clears way for IPTV trial

South Korean consortiums are expected to begin offering IPTV in October as a test of service in a nation that consistently ranks among the top for broadband penetration, the Korea Times reported last week.

A conflict between competing government regulatory authorities delayed the nation’s IPTV tests, but last week the Ministry of Information and Communication agreed with the Korean Broadcasting Commission to work together in allowing the tests to proceed.

Which consortiums will offer the IPTV trial should be settled in September, the paper reported.
