Neumann, DiGiCo collaborate on digital mic connectivity

At NAB2008, Neumann microphones and DiGiCo consoles announced that Solution-D digital microphones can now interface directly with DiGiCo’s desks. The product combinations were on display at both companies’ booths. The Solution-D series conforms to the AES 42 data transmission protocol.

“Despite the development of the AES 42 interface, there wasn't any easy way to directly connect Neumann digital series microphones to a console,” said Mike Pappas, Sennheiser applications engineer. “Now, with DiGiCo directly supporting AES 42, we have a digital path from microphone to speaker.”

The Neumann TLM 103 D is the latest classic microphone to enter the digital realm. Its integrated, fast peak limiter guarantees optimal recording levels at all times, and the Neumann A/D converter built into the microphone eliminates the need for external converters and preamps.
