Mexico's Canal 22 transitions to tapeless operations with Omneon

Television Metropolitana Canal 22 has integrated an Omneon Spectrum media server system into its Mexico City facility for commercial, promo, network ID, and program playout.

In addition to providing a foundation for tapeless operations, the new server system allows Canal 22 to streamline its master control timing workflow, enhance the quality of its on-air signal, and improve interaction between playout and the network's storage, traffic, continuity, and editing departments.

The server provides Canal 22 with a reliable and scalable infrastructure that will simplify the transition to a tapeless environment. It interfaces with NVerzion automation to control Canal 22's current on-air channels, Channel 22 National and Channel 22 International.

The server system features a storage capacity of 2TB, or 139 hours of MPEG-2 playout at 25Mb/s. The server supports a broad variety of third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving, and collaborative production.

Systems integrator AMTEC assisted in the server installation, managing final integration and coordinating installation, commissioning, and training.
