Media Bureau releases tables for DTV transition

The FCC Media Bureau has released three tables for television station licensees during the next phase of the DTV transition.

The updated Table of Station Assignment and Service Information will let television station license holders and others determine DTV service populations, which the commission will use when processing channel elections and creating the post-transition Table of Allotments.

The newly released table updates the Table of Station Assignment and Service Information released Oct. 7, 2004. It shows service areas based on DTV replication and maximization certifications that were submitted on the pre-election certification form (FCC Form 381).

The FCC has also released “Table II” and “Table IIa.” Table II will be used to determine compliance with the 80 percent or 100 percent replication requirements for DTV service.

Table II shows the 1998 NTSC and DTV replication facilities and service information for stations with paired DTV channels. Information in the table is based on the 1997 authorized NTSC facilities used to develop the 1998 initial DTV Table of Allotments and the U.S. Census Population data from 2000. The commission will use this information to determine the minimum service a DTV station must provide under the build out requirements for stations not remaining on their current DTV channel after the transition ends.

Table IIa details information for stations with DTV channel changes granted through individual rule making or channel swap applications.

The tables can be downloaded from www.fcc.gov/mb/video/tv.html.
