KEVN automates newscasts, Web offering
By TVTechnology published
KEVN TV, the Fox affiliate in Rapid City, SD, has installed the Comprompter NewsKing news and automation system.
NewsKing’s integrated automation helps the station’s small news staff produce a highly visual show with minimal effort. It makes and monitors all captioning and character generator titles through the production process. It also instantly makes any script change by a reporter or change to the rundown order by a producer.
KEVN also installed the Comprompter NetVid Internet news publishing module to encode its newscast and post the text and video to its Web site within minutes of completing the newscast. NetVid allows KEVN to post a whole newscast or selected stories from the show. It also allows the station to produce a webcast just for the Internet. Producers can select which stories to publish, preview the video and text, edit the scripts and post the stories in less than 15 minutes.
Built on a Microsoft Media VC-1 platform, NetVid provides high-quality video at a wide range of user-selected resolutions.
