WSAW-TV rebuilds facility with Omneon SPECTRUM

CBS affiliate WSAW-TV of Wausau, WI, is installing an Omneon SPECTRUM video server system as part of a complete master control rebuild and upgrade. The system will sit at the center of the station’s operations, providing storage for its commercial library, as well as storage and playout for syndicated programs and a variety of other media assets.

The new system will operate along with Sundance FastBreak Automation to provide tapeless storage and playout to drive the facility’s updated digital infrastructure. With ample storage and built-in networking, the system supports time-shift/time-delay and can be used as part of the facility’s editing suite. Its 170-hour storage capacity will enable the station to use the new server like a tape machine and will support future integration with the newsroom’s NLE system.
